If there is one person who, in 2026, is actively voicing his opinion on social media platforms like LinkedIn on the most buzzing technology that is artificial intelligence, it is Soumitra Dutta. Oxford Said Business School is where Mr Dutta dedicated three years of his professional career, who feels that global powerhouses must work towards a common goal - ensuring that AI is built in such a way that no country either solely favors or solely suffers because of it.

In June 2026, Anthropic was given a very brief span (90 minutes) by the US government of time to cut off access to two of its most advanced AI models - Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 worldwide, keeping the USA (the nation where the AI company originates from) as an exception, citing national security concerns. Also, the US government is probably considering buying a stake in the AI company and may reshape international policies on how foreign governments are void of the same advantage as they are, especially from US-based companies like Anthropic. This recent development turns the topic towards Soumitra Dutta’s views on artificial intelligence and the need for its ethical governance.

Al is progressing way beyond our imaginations

Soumitra Dutta’s take on AI is always way different than the mainstream general approach. He argues that people must not just look at the developments happening in AI, but also observe the parties involved in making these changes. Because is important to see if governments of different countries come together to find ways to govern AI and ensure that it is used ethically everywhere.

He, in a recent conversation with one his colleagues, argues (as per his LinkedIn post in the first week of July 2026) and gives an example of Airbus and the result of its success.
